WordPress Plugin Entrecard Popper
Updated 5-28-08 New version, fixed all known bugs:
What is it?
It’s a WordPress Plugin that pops your Entrecard up to the top middle of the page when a user comes from a an Entrecard surfing site, other wise it stays where you put it.
How does it work?
- After you place it in your WordPress plugin folder, activate in you WordPress dashboard.
- Go to Settings->Entrecard Popper and place your Entrecard Id number into the box and submit it:
- Go to Design->Widgets and drag the Entrecard widget to your sidebar.
That’s it!
But David I don’t like it on my sidebar?!?
Okay, that’s cool! Just palce this code in your theme file where you want it:
<?php PopMyCard(); ?>

Fantastic plugin! Love to see useful stuff like this instead of the usual “top dropper” nonsense.
Thanks for the plug-in. I’ll try adding it tonight and see if it works for me, that’s a great idea. I’ll be sure to post a trackback when I use it.
I didn’t use the widget I just put a pop call in the header. But it always seems to be there even if I log out of entrecard. And I hate the huge yellow strip across the top. Am I doing something wrong?
Sorry Colleen, this was the first release and users are finding all the bugs. I’m working on an update now and should have a new version done in about an hour.

We also have experienced the same bug on our blog, that’s why we disabled it for now.

Sorry no, Pinoy still waiting for approval from WordPress.org you’ll need to upgrade it manually. just upload it with your ftp overwriting the old version.
I don’t know how long it will take to get approved, but as soon as it is I’ll upload the latest version. Again I don’t have any idea how long it will take to get approved.

Nice plugin can I redone it for e107 - I use e107 CMS on mine site and I have slow site not optimized so it can be useful.
I love this plugin, but one thing worries me…does it pop up, people drop and then don’t comment or read anything? Have you noticed any difference in your comment rate?
Carol, I haven’t really notice a differents in comments but my received drops as jumped way up.
This post is fantastic, so that the visitors would likely stay for while in our site?
Great plugin, with this, it will make entrecard more noticeable.

Hi there,
Cool little plugin. The only problem I have with it is that the “close” link is set up to reload the entire page. I understand this was done so that the entrecard widget could be placed back in it’s normal location, but it could cause problems with stats programs as far as inflating pageviews.
A better way is to use onClick
Close(X)This way the page does not reload. Yes, the entrecard widget does not get replaced in it’s normal location, but it shouldn’t matter since entracard users who are just on a dropping fenzy have already had their chance anyway, they don’t need to see it again.

Hi, the popper seems like a really nice widget. Do you know if there’s anyway to put an entrecard widget on a wordpress.com blog? I’ve tried and wordpress (.com) doesn’t seem to allow this?

go to your dashboard then design->widget
Add a text widget to your sidebar and paste your card code into that widget.
I doubt WordPress will add my plugin to their hosted service.

Kind of takes the fun out of the game. After installing this plugin no one will read asingle line of your blog anymore! just click the drop link, that’s it. and no one will click any ads either. That takes the fun out of collecting the credits in the first place. This plugin doesn’t get my vote, sorry
