Wordpress Plugin: Twitter Blaster

logo

Twitter Blaster is a plugin that will allow your visitors to post to your Twitter account. Download Twitter Blasster You can see it in action here: OnlineBarterClub

I have added the ability to moderate outgoing twitters and have the twitt posted as a post as well. You can also edit the twitt as well. Just go to dashboard->manage->Twitter Blaster.

It’s very simple to use.

  1. simply upload Twitter_Blaster.php to your plugin directory.
  2. Activate it.
  3. Set the option (Twitter usename and password.
  4. Insert this code <?php TB_Twitt4me(); ?> into you index.php template file wherever you want. I would suggest right before <?php if (have_posts())….

This is my first WordPress Plugin I have released to, so please let me know what you think of it, or anything you would like added to it.

nice plugin until the spammers find it. Due to the 45 spam updates to my twitter account yesterday, I have removed it. You should probably think of something to counteract these guys.

  6. David says:

Sorry about that ehouston. I am going to try rewriting it today. I guess I can be kind of naive to abusers. I’m going to add a monitoring approval feature to it.

    Again I’m sorry.

I’m not able to post to my twitter account, but it’s going through to the Wordpress account. I have the correct Twitter l/p, but no dice. Any ideas on what is going on?

  10. David says:

Rob Blatt are you getting any errors? might check to see if you have curl installed too. Other than that I would need to look at your site to see what’s happening.

  11. Rob Blatt says:

I’m actually not getting any errors at all, that’s the odd part.

Fresh wordpress install of 2.5.1, no plugins besides the blaster on the site.

  13. David says:

Rob did you set the option for “Post Twitts as Post”? Also could you check your php and see if you have curl enabled.

Great plugin, just installed it on my blog… worked like a champ, but I tried to edit an update while it was in pending review and it wouldn’t let me, other than that it’s awesome and I love it! And the best is, you can even do updates on your own blog as well…

    Thanks,

    Bill

Great plug-in! Idea: If it could be further integrated into Wordpress so that you can actually write a tweet from within the Write Post screen, that would be killer. And if on multi-user blogs, it appended the author’s username to the tweet, even better.

Naturally, since I’m a PHP lightweight and relatively new to WP, I couldn’t imagine extending it myself tho :p

  28. Ronan says:

To the folks with the cannot load errors: sounds like you have the script loaded in your plugins folder contained in the folder “twitter-blaster” – it should not be in a folder: the Twitter_Blaster_Pro.php script should be in the plugins directory.

I also found two minor issues with the script which I have edited – David, would you like me to send it on to you?

  29. AH says:

Feature request: I love that we can moderate entries in the Manage section, but could it be added that an alert is sent when there is a tweet awaiting moderation? Either send out an email or put a flag in the dashboard much like is done for Comments when there are comments awaiting moderation?
Is development still being done on this? Has anyone programmed twitter-blaster alerts like this already?

  30. AH says:

I would like the Twitter-Blaster entries to update my Twitter account but NOT put a post in Wordpress. I tried setting the “Post Twitts as Posts” to “No” but that setting doesn’t seem to work.
    Anyone have a solution?
