Easy way to personalize a downloaded theme

Before I really started digging deeper into WordPress themes, I mostly altered the images with Macromedia Fireworks to change the look of the theme. It’s a rather easy thing to do. It’s so easy it might not even warrant this post.

So here’s what you do. Download your theme and open all the images in the image directory with fireworks. I sometimes add a new set of layers so I can keep the layout of the images straight in my mind. So if you know there’s going to have text on the image you’ll be sure the text will show up.

If you just want to change the color of something you can use the color curve feature to do it very easily.

Just move the curve like so:

Just note the change in values for the next image.

Also make sure you update the style sheet with you new color scheme.
