a friend yesterday asked me how to install slacks on a thumb drive. I didn’t have time to explain to him then so I decided today to post it here on the blog.

There are a couple of things you should know before you get started. Number one you need to know, if you are thumb drive can be a boot device to check this right-click on my computer and click manage. Then double-click storage and double-clicking desk management.

look for the listing for your thumb drive under status. It should read healthy, active. If it does not say active. It will not work as a boot device.

Next you need to use Windows to format your thumb drive. Double click on my computer, right click on your thumb drive, and click format. Make sure you format your thumb, using FAT, not FAT32.

Next needed download the ISO from their website. Once downloaded, use Winrar to extract the ISO once extracted. Simply copy the files to your thumb drive.

Now you need to ensure that your computer can boot with a USB device. You will need to restart your computer and interrupt the bios boot. Simply read the screen. When your computer first starts, it should give you directions. Most of the time, you will simply hit the delete key. Depending on your version and maker of bios.

Some newer systems have a boot menu when you first start your machine. If so, simply select USB.

If that does not work for you there is a piece of software that you should try. It’s called MySlax Creator. In my next post I will demonstrate how the software works.
