Have you stop in and looked at the WordPress theme browser lately? If not, don’t waste your time. It’s a real mess.
First there are tons of new designs everyday. Sounds like a good thing, right? It could be, should be. But it’s not. Spammers have taken it over. Reposting themes with their links all over them. Now don’t get me wrong and designer should get credit for their hard work.
These pukes are spewwing their spam through out the WordPress Community. First with spam comments, now that that has been cleaned up they are left with the templates. Fix this and they’ll find another way.
Now as much as I would like to just blame this on the spammers alone I think some of the blame goes on the administrators of the site it’s self. Someone should be monitoring submittal process. I know this would be a big job. Maybe a call could go out to the community for help.
My second problem is with the sites software it’s self. It seem every few weeks the screen shot process dies. Unless the admin comes in every week or so and takes the screens himself. Maybe it should be a requirement for the designers to submit their own screens. That could be a good thing. Spammers are lazy so…
A few people have complained about the admins chose to place ads on his site. I disagree, The admin should make something for his time or at least offset the cost of bandwidth. It cost to host a popular site.
